One of my favorite movies of all time is the classic “The Wizard of Oz” starring Judy Garland. A memorable scene in the movie for me is when the four new friends enter the Haunted Forest on their way to find the Wicked Witch. They read a sign together that states “I’d turn back if I were you!” and as they continue through the forest the Cowardly Lion warbles, “I do believe in spooks, I do believe in spooks. I do, I do, I do, I do believe in spooks!”
This scene seems fitting as the fall season descends upon us once again and the spooky season approaches. So, I dare to do you believe in spooks? Perhaps your students or library patrons would like to learn more about things that creep and crawl in the night or question what they might see in the sky.
